ITH stands for Industrie-Technische Konstruktionen Hohmann. This was the name given to the company by Hans Hohmann when he founded it in 1979 in Meschede, Germany. Hans Hohmann's original idea was as obvious as it was ingenious – the friction and torsion-free tensioning of bolts by means of hydraulic stretching. The first product marketed by the new company was a bolt-tensioning cylinder working on this principle – the ITH Stretch Method. It was to be the companies foundation for a steady process of growth and innovation. With its high-accuracy (± 2,5 %), the bolt-tensioning cylinder is still the most accurate tool on the market for tightening large fasteners.
ITH is a system supplier operating worldwide
Both sons Frank and Jörg Hohmann have built the tool making company into today's system supplier with a worldwide reputation. ITH supplies a complete program of bolting systems, from bolt-tensioning cylinders, torque wrenches, power wrenches, ALPHA turn-angle tools, nut splitters and special bolts down to patented ITH tension nuts as well as all the required accessories.

For more than 10 years, all the operations involved in ITH's work, i.e. development, design, production, assembly, marketing and customer service have been defined in the certified ITH quality-management system. In addition to its own standards, ITH also fulfils the strict requirements of such well-known customers as Alstom, Caterpillar, General Electric, Siemens, Vestas, SBM Imodco, and Thyssen-Krupp Uhde as a certified supplier.
