Example applications

The ITH Stretch Method is used primarily in areas where bolts have to be pre-tensioned to a high reproducibly or simultaneously. The flanges of a structure can be pre-tensioned evenly by using several bolt-tensioning cylinders (multi-tensioning system).

4 ITH bolt-tensioning cylinders in simultaneous operation on a large roller bearing in the oil industry with a diameter of five metres. A pump drives them simultaneously. In addition, the M60 bolts were fitted with ITH round nuts to achieve optimum pre-tensioning.

Simultaneous pre-tensioning of two main bearing bolts on a GE diesel engine in Jenbach, Austria. The bolt dimension is M30. One pump unit drives both bolt-tensioning cylinders with a simultaneous setting. This ensures that each bolt receives the same pre-tensioning force.

The tension rod bolt at an turbine with the dimension M290 is screwed exactly by an ITH-special construction. The biggest bolt-tensioning cylinder, which is produced by ITH, had the thread size W510 (510mm).
